Helping Hand Fund:
The Helping Hand Fund is an integral part of the congregation’s outreach to the larger community on the East End. Funds derive from Sunday service donations, fundraising events and other contributions. The focus of funding is on groups, generally non-profits, that work with marginalized populations in our area. The Fund seeks to supplement our own activities by giving recognition and support to the valuable work being done on the East End to alleviate need and impact social change. The Helping Hand Committee is always looking for new projects that support our principles and mission.

Minister’s Discretionary Fund:
The Minister’s Discretionary Fund is used to help people in immediate need. The fund is open to members and friends of the congregation as well as members of our larger community. In the past, the Minister’s Discretionary Fund provided assistance for such things as: rent, groceries, utility and insurance bills, and bail.
Other UU Initiatives:
The Long Island UU Fund (LIUUF) has a 25-year history of supporting grassroot organizations in their own backyard. LIUUF has funded projects that build power among marginalized groups, advocated for policies and practices that level the playing field and make Long Island a more equitable and peaceful place for all residents. The Long Island Community Foundation manages the Fund with the guidance of an Advisory Committee made up of UU congregations across Long Island.
The Unitarian Universalist Veatch Program at Shelter Rock is the national philanthropic giving program of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock. The Veatch Program provides long term, core support for social justice organizing throughout the United States. A program of faith in action, Veatch has been a leader in progressive philanthropy since 1959.
The Guest at Your Table Program is the UU Service Committee’s annual intergenerational program to raise support for and awareness about key human rights issues. Congregations support the program to nurture awareness for all ages of UU principles, social justice and human rights.
