UUCSF Mandate

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION of the SOUTH FORKHIGH IMPACT COMMUNITY OUTREACH FUNDPROPOSED TO AND APPROVED BY CONGREGATIONAL VOTE ON 11/17/19

Mission

The UUCSF strives to promote positive social action on the East End of Long Island, New York. In living the Unitarian Universalist principles, we promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person, justice, equity and compassion in human relations, a free and responsible search for truth and meaning and the interdependent web of all existence. We work for all East-Enders to share in our bounty, creating a better place to live, work and play.

Goal

Identify East End non-profits, groups and individual projects that can make a difference in our local communities. These well-defined projects reflect insights into East End priorities and inspire actions with long-lasting impacts. We aspire to bringing diverse peoples together and forming longer-term connections with our grantees and our congregation.

The Fund

$100,000.00 will be set aside from the Paul Berman Bequest which we expect to allocate over the next 3-5 years. The minimum grant will be $5,000.00

The Grantees

Grants will be awarded to community organizations in the five East End towns (Shelter Island, East Hampton, Riverhead, Southampton and Southold).

The Proposal Assessment Committee

The applications, which should be in the form of projects, will be evaluated by a Proposal Assessment Committee consisting of a minimum of three permanent members, all of whom will be appointed by the Board for a fixed term. UUCSF members or friends will be eligible to serve on the Proposal Assessment Committee. There will be a contact person from the committee for each accepted proposal who will report back to the congregation on the progress of each grant recipient.

The Details

The fund will be managed by the current funds management process i.e., the Treasurer and the Investment Advisory Committee. How (or whether) will we replenish the funds for the High Impact Community Outreach program will be discussed at a later date after the efficacy of the program has been established.
